Thames Mouth Chapter
Province of Essex - Consecrated 8th May 1954
WELCOME to the home page of Thames Mouth Chapter 6994 registered with the Supreme Grand Chapter of England.
The Chapter was officially founded in 1954 but its foundation started in 1953 when two members of Thames Mouth Lodge, Bros Harry and Ernie Noble together with other brethren met to discuss the forming of a Chapter to be attached to the Lodge, as there were a number of brethren who were anxious to become Royal Arch Masons as well as a number of Past Masters, already members of the Royal Arch, who wished to attain the First Principalís Chair. They were later to become founders of the Chapter which would also tend to keep brethren of the Lodge together in their own Chapter.
The interest that was aroused following this suggestion was such that an inaugural meeting was held at the Overcliff Hotel, Westcliff-on-Sea on Thursday 16th April 1953. All those who attended were member of Thames Mouth Lodge.
The ceremony of Consecration was carried out at the Palace Hotel, now the Park Inn, Southend-on-Sea on 8th May 1954 by the Grand Superintendent in Essex Dr. F. Douglas Turner CBE, PAGSoj.
The first Regular Convocation of the Chapter was held on Saturday 25th September 1954 at the Queens Hotel, Westcliff-on-Sea (now sadly demolished). The First Principal at that meeting was Capt. H. W. Noble PPGSN.
The Chapter now welcomes members from any Craft Lodge once they have been raised to a Master Mason. The Holy Royal Arch is seen as the fourth step in Freemasonry after the Third Degree.
Thames Mouth Chapter raises money for many local and national charities. Freemasonry is one of the biggest supporters of charities in the UK.
So if you enjoy friendship, camaraderie and good company in relaxed surroundings, whilst always remembering and helping those less fortunate than yourself, then why not consider joining Thames Mouth Chapter 6994. You will be very welcome.
